Real reefs to close

Real Reefs will be closing on Saturday 12th of April 2025.

Unfortunately due to several factors I have made the difficult decision to close the shop on a permanent basis.

Trade has been very slow for a while. The economy certainly hasn't helped as people on the whole have less disposable income for hobbies like this. Covid also pushed people more to online shopping and that trend hasn't reversed. The end result is that the shop is becoming less-profitable. I also have taken into account that our four year electricity contract comes to an end in January 2026 and I would anticipate a large hike to the already huge monthly bill which would cripple the business.

I'd like to thank all of Real Reefs' loyal customers for their support over the 23 years that I've run the shop and wish you all well on your reef keeping journey!
